"Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity," by David Allen
Wow! Provides a complete framework for increasing your personal and professional productivity by getting control of your stuff. You'll be reading more about this one in my blog!
"You Just Don't Understand: Women and Men in Conversation," by Deborah Tannen
Provides insights into the complexities in communications between men and women and where things go awry. I found this book at a library book sale for $.50 and have been forever thankful since!
Career Exploration

"What Should I Do With My Life?" by Po Bronson
Shares the stores of dozens and dozens people on their quest to determine what's next for them. What's great about this book is that every story isn't tied up with a neat bow. Much the learning for the subjects, the readers and the author is in the exploration and the process.
Personal Growth / Development

"Transitions: Making Sense of Life's Changes," by William Boroughs
Provides "strategies for coping with the difficult, painful, and confusing times in your life." A good book to read when it feels as though the earth is shifting beneath your feet.
"Taming Your Gremlin: A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way," by Rick Carson
Sheds light on that negative voice in the back of your head and provides techniques for dealing with it.
Parenting / Family

"Raising An Emotionally Intelligent Child," by John Gottman
Equips parents with tools to teach children how to understand and regulate their emotions. It also provides assessments for parents to gain insight into their own emotional intelligence. A must have for every parent!
"The Intentional Family: Simple Rituals to Strengthen Family Ties," by William J. Doherty
Explores the importance of building strong rituals as a foundation for families and offers some great suggestions for creating your own.
"Everyday Traditions: Simple Family Rituals for Connection and Comfort," by Nava Atlas
Also explores families and rituals in a fast-paced world with lost of suggestions and resources for starting your own.
"The New First Three Years of Life," by Burton L. White
Provides a 'manual' of what to expect concerning your child's physical, emotional, and mental during the first three years of life. The author also offers advice on handling the major (and minor) trials of those few years. Take what fits and leave what doesn't.
"Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child," by Marc Weissbluth
Provides a roadmap of how sleep works at various stages of a child's early life. The explanations of how sleep works during different phases were invaluable during those times of rapid growth and change.
